Natural Remedies For Acne

For those who suffer from acne today (adults and teenagers alike) rather than relying on over the counter treatments to deal with this condition prefer to find natural remedies for acne instead. The reason that they do this is simply because they are concerned about what effect the chemicals within these products are doing to their bodies.

So what kinds of natural remedies for acne are there available for you to use in order to treat this skin condition? Below we look at just some of the kinds and many of which you will be surprised to find that you already have in your kitchen.

Remedy 1 – Peppermint

It is important using this remedy to use peppermint and not spearmint as it is the latter which contains menthol in it. To use this particular one take a handful of the leaves and crush them completely with a mortar and pestle. Following crushing the leaves take them and the juice and apply it to the skin affected and leave it there for around 5 to 10 minutes. After this time now wash off with cold water.

You can repeat this remedy as often as you like and will find that not only does it reduce the inflammation but the pain felt this is because the menthol contains natural anti inflammatory and analgesic properties.

Remedy 2 – Oatmeal and Honey

With this particular remedy you take a cup of plain oatmeal the same that you would have for your breakfast and cook with water. To this then you add a ¼ cup of natural honey and ensure that you mix the two together completely, and then allow the mixture to cool. When it is sufficiently cooled apply to the face making sure that you avoid your eyes and leave on for around 10 to 20 minutes. If you leave it on any longer then trying to remove it with clean water will prove a challenge.

The reason why this particular remedy is proving so effective at treating acne is that the oatmeal helps to absorb excess oil from the skin along with removing dead cells. As for the honey in this remedy it makes applying the mixture much easier and also helps to tone your skin.

Remedy 3 – Rose Water and Lime Juice

This is another one of the very simple natural remedies for acne and requires you to mix equal parts of rose water and lime juice together. Then when prepared you need to apply it directly to the infected areas of skin and if on the face make sure that you keep it away from your eyes. Unlike the other remedies mentioned in this article you may find that there is a stinging feel to your skin because of the lemon juice. However, you must allow it to stay on the affected area for 15 to 30 minutes in order for it to be effective before you then rinse it off with cold water.

Both the rose water and the lemon juice contain anti bacterial properties that can help to kill off the growth of bacteria within the skin causing the spots to erupt. Plus the lemon juice contains a natural astringent that helps to relieve some of the pain one feels as well as helping to improve the tone of your skin.

As well as these natural remedies for acne being effective you will find that they cost considerably less to make than purchasing over the counter treatments. Although they may cause some slight irritation to your skin initially this is normal. But should you find that the reaction is much stronger than don’t use the treatment any further.
